Curriculum
Curriculum Vision
At All Saints’ RC High School, every student experiences a broad and balanced curriculum that enriches both knowledge and skills within our state-of-the-art facilities. As a small Catholic community, we nurture and inspire each individual to grow in confidence and leave us as the very best version of themselves.
Our school motto, “Luceat Lux Vestra” – Let Your Light Shine, guides every aspect of our curriculum, fostering a culture of high expectations, aspiration, and achievement for all.
We are committed to providing parity of education, opportunity, and experience for every student, regardless of background, ability, or prior learning so that all can flourish and let their light shine.
Core Curriculum
Through our core curriculum, students engage with a broad range of subjects that provide a rich and carefully sequenced body of knowledge and skills. Each curriculum area offers a logical progression from Key Stage 2, building on student’s prior learning while addressing any gaps or misconceptions. We believe that secure understanding comes from strong foundations, so new learning is always connected to what students have previously studied. Revisiting key knowledge and concepts is therefore an essential part of our daily lessons, ensuring that learning is reinforced, deepened, and retained.
All students have access to a range of academic, practical and vocational subjects. The EBacc is at the heart of our Key Stage 3 curriculum which means that, regardless of their ability, all students are able to study a foreign language. The spiritual development of all students is delivered through the RE curriculum and is enhanced further by an extensive and purposeful CPSHE programme and extended learning days.
The core curriculum at Key Stage 3 is comprised of the following subjects:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- RE
- Art
- Computing
- Design Technology
- Food Technology
- Geography
- History
- Music
- PE
- Spanish
Students choose their Key Stage 4 options at the start of the Summer Term in Year 9, following a well structured programme of careers education and guidance that supports them in thinking about their future ambitions. Our Key Stage 4 curriculum is designed to be both challenging and accessible, enabling every learner to thrive and let their light shine.
All students have the opportunity to study a language and may opt for the full EBacc suite of subjects if this aligns with their goals. For a small number of identified students, our Pathways programme provides tailored support to help them develop the skills, confidence, and independence they need for life beyond All Saints’, ensuring they are fully prepared to continue letting their light shine in the wider world.
