Mission Statement

All Saints’ is a school where the Catholic faith is taught, lived and celebrated. We will educate the whole person spiritually, morally and intellectually. We embrace Catholic values in all we do and in all our relationships. We will identify and cater for the individual student’s needs and prepare them for responsible participation in society. Our aim is to follow Christ's teaching, as found in the Gospels, in everything we do.
Our school motto, ‘Luceat Lux Vestra’, ‘Let Your Light Shine’ summarises our Mission Statement. It is known, lived and witnessed throughout the school and has a significant impact on learning and the life of the school.

British Values and our Catholic Ethos

The Government set out its definition of ‘British Values’ in the ‘Prevent Strategy’ (2011), which was designed to prevent the extremism and religious radicalisation of young people. British values are considered by the present government to be democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs. The promotion of ‘British values’ is central to Catholic education at All Saints’ because British values have their origin in the Christian values of our nation. All Saints’ is a Catholic school which actively promotes tolerance, forgiveness and reconciliation. Our mission and whole school values encourage inclusivity and respect.
The Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales states that:
“The Catholic school aims to be a community within the wider Catholic body which promotes by its teaching, relationships and worship the following of Christ by its members. For its fruitfulness it depends particularly on the faith of its adult members and the way in which they are able to cloth that faith in daily living”.
That means the school should be “Christo-centric”. That Christ should be the centre of all that we do in our learning, in our leisure and in our worship. Christ then should be reflected in all areas of school life. In doing so, we encourage our students to be the best version of themselves as they live the mission and learn the importance of demonstrating our SHINE values.

Patron Saints and House Saints

Our school Feast Day is 1st November. Which is a Holy Day of Obligation.
This year, KS3 had a Mass celebrated on 1st November by Fr Chris McGrane. KS4 had a prayerful liturgy led by the Student Leadership Team and members of the Pupil Chaplaincy.

Summary of how delivery of PSHCE and British Values links to Catholic Ethos and RSHE

All students at All Saints’ follow a programme of Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE), with a weekly session delivered by their Form Tutors during form time. The PSHE curriculum complements the programmes of study for all other subjects and aims to help our students develop key skills and acquire the knowledge, understanding and attributes they need to manage their lives now and in the future. It aims to introduce our students to the concept that they are part of a wider community as global citizens now and in their future roles within a global community and enables students to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepared for life and work.
Through our PSHE curriculum, we aim to help build confident individuals who are able to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives and enjoy learning. We want our students to become responsible citizens who make positive contributions to society. This is clearly aligned to our Mission Statement because, as a Catholic school we educate the whole person spiritually and morally as well as intellectually and prepare them for responsible participation in society.

Our PSHE curriculum, while underpinned by our Catholic ethos, includes opportunities to link to British Values as well as Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) developments. Our resources include Ten Ten resources and resources from the PSHE association.
